If you're moving from a warm country to the UK, you will probably need to buy some coats, thermals, and jumpers!
Here's where to buy warm clothing in the UK:
Depop, Vinted and eBay (turn on the ‘buy it now’ and ‘condition: used’ filters), where you can buy second-hand clothes online. A great place to find coats and jumpers. Also check your local charity shop.
Snag, the best place to buy tights that actually fit, and last.
Primark, these stores have a large range and bargain prices, but know that what you buy is unlikely to last very long or keep you very warm, and it’s soon going to end up in a landfill or in the ocean.
Uniqlo, who sell great thermals (the Heattech range) and affordable puffer jackets.
Arket or Madewell, for high-quality basics made with a focus on sustainably. Not cheap but they'll last.
Lucy & Yak, for quirky organic and sustainable clothes made to last, including a fun range of fleeces. I'm lowkey obsessed with them.
Outdoor brands The North Face and Patagonia for technical clothing that will keep you warm even in the arctic. Often the most expensive option, but these items can last for life if you look after them.
Marks & Spencer and John Lewis for a wide range of basics. A good middle-of-the-road solution.
HM, Zara and Asos for trendy everything. Asos’s range is enormous, so if you want one place for everything, that’s the one to use.
TK Maxx, a discount outlet that sells overstock from other shops. You can find real bargains if you hunt, but they may not have everything you need and the stores can be overwhelming.
